Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has released "Import Price Index" (IPI) for the third quarter (Q3) 2016.

Overall index of import prices in Kosovo increased by 1.0% in Q3 2016 compared to Q2 2016.

Import prices in Kosovo increased by an average of 1.0% in Q3 2016 compared to Q2 2016. The biggest rise by sectors was to: base metals and articles thereof (3.8%); vegetable products (3.0%); live animals and their products (2.2%); leather and articles thereof (1.2%); mineral products (1.1%); means of transport (1.1%); machinery and electrical equipment (1.0%); textile and articles thereof (0.9%); miscellaneous manufactured articles (0.7%); prepared foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco (0.4%); products of chemical industries (0.2%); and optical, photographic, measuring and medical instruments and timepieces (0.2%).

The increase was counteracted mainly by decreases by sectors: plastics, rubber and articles thereof (-1.0%); articles of stone, plaster, ceramic products and glass (-0.8%); wood and articles thereof (-0.7%); edible oil (-0.7%); paper and articles thereof (-0.6%), and footwear (-0.1%).

Compared Q3 2016 with Q3 2015, import prices in Kosovo decreased on average (-2.8%). The largest decreases by sectors were to: mineral products (-15.4%); textile and articles thereof (-5.2%); plastics, rubber and articles thereof (-3.9%); base metals and articles thereof (-3.4%); paper and articles thereof (-2.2%); articles of stone, plaster, ceramic products and glass (-2.1%); live animals and animal products (-0.6%); optical, photographic, measuring and medical instruments and timepieces (-0.4%); and miscellaneous manufactured articles (-0.1%).

The decline was offset mainly by the increase in prices by sectors: herbal products (7.9%); leather and articles thereof (2.7%); edible oil (2.3%); wood and wood articles (2.2%); prepared foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco (1.3%); products of chemical industries (1.0%); means of transport (1.0%); footwear (0.5%) and machinery appliances and electrical equipment (0.3%).
