The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has released the Import Price Index (IMPI) for the fourth quarter (Q4) 2022.

The total import price index in Kosovo increased by 1.0% in Q4 2022, compared to Q3 2022. The largest price increases by sector were: paper and articles thereof (9.4%); wood and articles thereof (6.0%); plant products (5.8%); stone, mortar, ceramic and glass products (4.1%); products of chemical industries (3.4%); live animals and animal outputs (2.7%); means of transport (2.5%); machinery equipment and electrical equipment (1.9%); prepared foodstuff, beverages and tobacco (1.3%); leather and articles thereof (1.3%); textile and articles thereof (1.1%); footwear (1.0%); and optical, photographic, measuring, medical, musical instruments and clock mechanisms (0.3%).

The increase was neutralized mainly by the decrease in prices by sector in: mineral products (-3.5%); plastic, rubber and articles thereof (-2.9%); base metals and articles thereof (-1.4%); various manufactured items (-0.3%); and edible oils (-0.1%).

Import prices in Kosovo increased by an average of 13.0% in Q4 2022, compared to Q4 2021. The largest increases by sector were: mineral products (26.5%); plant products (23.7%); edible oils (23.0%); stone, mortar, ceramic and glass products (22.8%); wood and articles thereof (16.7%); paper and articles thereof (16.3%); plastic, rubber and articles thereof (14.9%); live animals and animal outputs (14.6%); means of transport (10.6%); footwear (10.6%); prepared foodstuff, beverages and tobacco (8.4%); products of chemical industries (7.4%); textile and articles thereof (7.4%); base metals and articles thereof (6.9%); machinery equipment and electrical equipment (6.5%); and various manufactured items (4.5%).

The increase was neutralized mainly by the decline in prices by sector: leather and articles thereof (-10.8%); and optical, photographic, measuring, medicinal, musical instruments and clock mechanisms (-0.1%).
