The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has released the data of the Import Price Index (IMPI) in the fourth quarter of 2021 (Q4 2021).

The total import price index in Kosovo increased by 4.9% in Q4 2021, compared to Q3 2021. The largest price increases by sectors were: stone, mortar, ceramics and glass products (19.7%); wood and articles thereof (18.4%); mineral products (16.6%); edible oils (11.3%); live animals and animal output (3.2%); base metals and articles thereof (2.9%); optical, photographic, measuring, medical, musical instruments and clock mechanisms (2.2%); machinery and electrical equipment (1.9%); prepared foodstuff, beverages and tobacco (1.9%); plant products (1.7%); chemical industry products (1.1%); means of transport (1.0%); textiles and articles thereof (1.6%); footwear (0.9%); and plastics, rubber and articles thereof (0.4%).

The increase was neutralized mainly by the decline in prices by sectors: paper and articles thereof (-3.0%); leather and articles thereof (-3.0%); and miscellaneous manufactured articles (-0.2%).

Import prices in Kosovo increased by an average of 19.6% between Q4 2021 and Q4 2020. The largest increases by sectors were: base metals and articles thereof (58.1%); mineral products (53.5%); stone, mortar, ceramic and glass articles (32.7%); wood and articles thereof (29.1%); edible oils (26.1%); plastics, rubber and articles thereof (20.0%); optical, photographic, measuring, medical and musical instruments, and clock mechanisms (17.7%); live animals and animal output (14.7%); plant products (8.6%); machinery and electrical equipment (6.7%); prepared foodstuff items, beverages and tobacco (5.3%); means of transport (5.1%); chemical industry products (4.4%); textiles and textile articles (2.4%); and miscellaneous manufactured articles (0.6%).

The increase was neutralized mainly by the decline in prices by sectors: paper and articles thereof (-6.5%); leather and articles thereof (-4.0%) and footwear (-0.1%).
