Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices, September 2018
The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has published the "Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices" (HICP) for September 2018.
Since January 2016, the harmonized index of consumer prices is published with the base year 2015 = 100
Monthly inflation measured by the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices in September 2018 was 0.1%.
The total harmonized index of consumer prices is higher by 0.1% in September 2018 compared to August 2018. This is mainly explained by the increase of the consumer prices in COICOP subgroups: bread and cereals (1.5%); vegetables (2.5%); clothing (1.9%), with a common impact of these subgroups by 0.4% in the HICP.
The increase was counteracted mainly by the decrease of the consumer prices in COICOP subgroups: fruits (-7.6%); transport services (-5.3%) - (decrease of air transport ticket prices); organized holidays (-4.4%), with a common impact of these subgroups by (-0.3%) in the HICP.
While, annual inflation rate was 1.4%. The total harmonized index of consumer prices is higher by 1.4% in September 2018 compared to September 2017. This is mainly explained by the increase of the consumer prices in this period to COICOP subgroups: bread and cereals (2.1%); meat (3.1%); milk, cheese and eggs (3.4%); vegetables (13.0%); tobacco (2.9%); use of personal transport means (10.6%) - (increase in oil and gasoline prices); hotel services (3.2%), with a common impact of these subgroups by 2.1 percent in the HICP.
The increase was counteracted mainly by the decrease of the consumer prices in COICOP subgroups: fruits (-6.7%); sugar and cakes (-7.7%); electricity, gas and other fuels (-7.0%); household appliances (-3.5%); audio-visual, photographic information processing equipment (-3.8%), with a common impact of these sub-groups by (-0.7%) in the HICP.
