Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices, October 2018
The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has published the "Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices" (HICP) for the month of October 2018.
Since January 2016, the harmonized index of consumer prices is published with the base year 2015 = 100
Monthly inflation measured by the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices in October 2018 was 0.2%.
The total harmonized index of consumer prices is higher by 0.2% in October 2018 compared to September 2018. This is mainly explained by the increase of the consumer prices in COICOP subgroups: bread and cereal (0.7%); meat (1.3%); vegetables (2.0%); use of personal transport means (1.1%) - (increase of prices of oil and gasoline), with a common impact of these subgroups by 0.4 percent in the HICP.
The increase was neutralized mainly by the decrease in consumer prices in COICOP subgroups: milk, cheese and eggs (-1.3%); fruits (-9.0%), with a common impact of these subgroups by (-0.2%) in the HICP.
While, annual inflation rate was 1.5%. The total harmonized index of consumer prices is higher by 1.5% in October 2018 compared to October 2017. This is mainly explained by the increase of the consumer prices in this period to COICOP subgroups: bread and cereal ( 1.2%); meat (4.6%); vegetables (10.7%); alcoholic beverages (3.6%); tobacco (2.8%); use of personal transport means (11.4%) - (increase of prices of oil and gasoline); transport services (5.8%) - (increase of air transport ticket prices); hotel services (2.6%), with a common impact of these subgroups by 2.2 percent in the HICP.
The increase was largely neutralized by the decrease of the consumer prices in COICOP subgroups: fruits (-11.7%); sugar and cakes (-7.0%); mineral water, soft drinks, fruit and vegetable juices (-1.1%); electricity, gas and other fuels (-6.3%), with a common impact of these subgroups (-0.7%) in the HICP.
