Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices, March 2019
The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has published the "Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices" (HICP) in March 2019, with the base year 2015=100.
Monthly inflation measured by the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices was 0.1% in March 2019.
The total harmonized index of consumer prices is higher by 0.1% in March 2019 compared to February 2019. This is mainly explained by the increase in consumer prices in the COICOP subgroups: bread and cereal (0.5%); fruit (2.2%); vegetables (3.2%); use of personal transport means (2.1%) - (increase of oil and gasoline prices) with a common impact of these subgroups by 0.4 percent in the HICP.
The increase was counteracted by the decrease in consumer prices in the COICOP subgroups: milk, cheese and eggs (-1.5%); water, soft drinks, juices from fruits and vegetables (-1.4%); electricity, gas and other fuels (-1.7%) - (decrease in the price of firewood for heating) with a common impact of these subgroups by (-0.3%) in the HICP.
The annual inflation rate measured in March 2019 with March 2018 was 3.3%.
The total harmonized index of consumer prices is higher by 3.3% in March 2019 compared to March 2018. This is mainly explained by the increase in consumer prices during this period in the COICOP subgroups: bread and cereal (11.6%); meat (3.7%); milk, cheese and eggs (4.2%); vegetables (32.5%); alcoholic beverages (1.7%); tobacco (3.6%); use of personal transport means (6.4%) - (increase of oil and gasoline prices), hotel services (1.5%); personal items (3.3%), with a common impact of these subgroups by 3.6 percent in the HICP.
The increase was counteracted mainly by the decrease in consumer prices in the COICOP subgroups: fruit (-10.3%); electricity, gas and other fuels (-2.3%) - (decrease in the price of firewood for heating); transport services (-5.4%) - (decrease of air transport ticket prices), with the common impact of these subgroups by (-0.3%) in the HICP.
