Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices, June 2020
The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has published the "Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices" (HICP) in June 2020, with the base year 2015 = 100.
Monthly inflation measured by the harmonized index of consumer prices was (-0.4%) in June 2020, compared to May 2020. This is mainly explained by the decrease in consumer prices in the COICOP subgroups: milk, cheese and eggs (-2.8%); vegetables (-9.3%), with a common impact of these subgroups by (-0.5 percent) on the HICP.
While, price increase is observed in the COICOP subgroup: use of personal transport means (1.0%) - (increase in oil and gasoline prices) with an impact of this subgroup by (0.1 percent) on the HICP.
Meanwhile, the annual inflation rate, measured in June 2020 with June 2019, was 0.1%. This is mainly explained by the increase in consumer prices in this period in COICOP subgroups: bread and cereals (2.2%); meat (1.0%); milk, cheese and eggs (2.6%); oils and fats (1.6%); fruits (8.7%); sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and cakes (3.6%); coffee, tea and cocoa (7.9%); water, soft drinks, fruit and vegetable juices (2.2%); alcoholic beverages (1.7%); electricity, gas and other fuels (0.8%) - (increase in prices of wood for heating); household appliances (1.7%); goods and services for ordinary household maintenance (1.6%); medical products, apparatus and equipment (5.2%); outpatient services (5.5%); purchase of vehicles (0.8%); telephone and fax services (0.7%); hotel services (3.0%); personal belongings (4.2%); insurance (19.2%) - (increase in prices for vehicle insurance), with a combined impact of these subgroups by 1.5 percent on the HICP.
In this period, a decrease in prices is observed in the COICOP subgroup: use of means for personal transport (-18.1%) - (decrease in oil and gasoline prices) with an impact of this subgroup by (-1.4 percent) in HICP.
