Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP), September 2022

The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has released the "Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices" (HICP) for the month of September 2022, with the base year 2015=100.

Monthly inflation measured by the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices was (-0.2%) in September 2022.

The total harmonized index of consumer prices decreased by an average of (-0.2%) in September 2022, compared to August 2022. This is mainly explained by the fall in consumer prices in COICOP subgroups: packed vacations (-13.0%); fuels and lubricants for personal transport means (-5.9%); transport services (-4.7%) "decrease in air transport ticket prices"; fruits (-3.2%); electricity (-1.1%), with a common impact of these subgroups by (-0.6 percent) on HICP.

Meanwhile, the increase in prices is observed in the subgroups of COICOP: solid fuels, firewood, pellets, etc. (9.2%); furniture and furnishings, carpets and other floor coverings (2.5%); vegetables (2.0%); goods and services for the usual maintenance of household (1.5%); bread and cereals (0.7%); meat (0.6%), with a common impact of these subgroups by 0.4 percent on HICP.

The annual inflation rate measured in the month of September 2022 with the month of September 2021 was 12.7%.

The total harmonized index of consumer prices is higher by an average of 12.7% in September 2022, compared to September 2021. This is mainly explained by the increase in consumer prices in this period in the subgroups of COICOP: solid fuels, firewood, pellets, etc. (60.2%); edible oils and fats (49.7%); bread and cereals (33.5%); milk, cheese and eggs (25.8%); fuels and lubricants for personal transport means (24.7%); gas (23.9%); meat (22.3%); sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and sweets (21.1%); coffee, tea and cocoa (17.9%); various food products, sauces, spices, salt, baby food, etc. (16.7%); goods and services for the usual maintenance of household (16.2%); transport services (15.7%); hotel services (14.2%); maintenance and arrangement of residence (13.3%); home and garden tools and equipment (10.9%); personal care (8.3%); other recreational, garden and pet items and equipment (7.3%); furniture and furnishings, carpets and other floor coverings (6.7%); spare parts and accessories for personal transport means (6.4%); mineral water, soft drinks, fruit and vegetable juices (6.2%); household appliances (5.9%); vehicle purchase (5.5%); tobacco (5.4%); alcoholic beverages (5.2%); pharmaceutical products (4.9%); glassware, cutlery and kitchen tools (4.4%), with a combined impact of these subgroups by 13.0 percent on HICP.

Meanwhile, a decrease in prices is observed in the subgroup of COICOP: fruits (-6.8%); vegetables (-1.9%); electricity (-1.4%), with an impact by (-0.3 percent) on HICP.
