Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP), October 2016
Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has published "the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices" (HICP) for October 2016.
Overall harmonized index of consumer prices is higher by 0.9% in October 2016 compared with September 2016. Increased prices are noted to COICOP subgroups: vegetables (2.9%), electricity, gas and other fuels (21.0%) - (rising price of electricity in an average of 39.7% due to the application of winter electricity tariffs from 1 October 2016-31 March 2017), the use of means for personal transport (1.3%) - (rising price of oil and gasoline) with a common impact of these subgroups of 1.4 percent in the HICP.
The increase was counteracted mainly by decreases of COICOP sub-groups: milk, cheese and eggs (-1.4%); fruit (-7.9%); transport services (-1.4%) - (decrease of plane ticket price); telephone and fax equipment (-2.6%), with a common impact of these subgroups of (-0.5%) in the HICP.
The inflation rate measured in the month of October 2016 with October 2015 was 0.9%.
Overall harmonized index of consumer prices is higher for 0.9% in October 2016 compared to October 2015. In this period there are some changes in prices of items and services of COICOP groups and subgroups. Increasing prices for subgroups: meat (1.2%); milk, cheese and eggs (1.3%); sugar and sweets (8.4%); tobacco (5.1%); clothing (2.5%); electricity, gas and other fuels (1.6%) - (rising price of wood for heating); transport services (12.4%) - (rising price of plane tickets), with a common impact of these subgroups of 1.1% in the HICP.
The increase was counteracted mainly by decreases in this period of COICOP subgroups: bread and cereals (-1.4%); and fruit (-5.7%), with a common impact of these subgroups of (-0.2%) in the HICP.
