Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP), December 2022
The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has released the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) for the month of December 2022, with the base year 2015=100.
Monthly inflation measured by the harmonized index of consumer prices was 0.9% in December 2022.
The total harmonized index of consumer prices is higher by an average of 0.9% in December 2022, compared to November 2022. This is mainly explained by the increase in consumer prices in COICOP subgroups: transport services (15.9%); electricity (7.6%); clothing (4.2%); purchase of vehicles (4.0%); milk, cheese and eggs (2.5%); vegetables (2.3%); tobacco (1.7%); furniture and furnishings, carpets and other floor coverings (1.3%); mineral water, soft beverages, fruit and vegetable juices (1.2%); with a common impact of these subgroups by 1.4% on HICP.
Meanwhile, the decrease in prices is observed in the subgroup of COICOP: fuels and lubricants for personal transport means (-8.3%), with an impact by (-0.5 percent) on HICP.
The annual inflation rate measured in December 2022 with December 2021 was 12.1%.
The total harmonized index of consumer prices is higher by an average of 12.1% in December 2022, compared to December 2021. This is mainly explained by the increase in consumer prices in this period in COICOP subgroups: transport services (46.9%); solid fuels, firewood, pallets (38.8%); oils and fats (30.9%); milk, cheese and eggs (27.8%); bread and cereals (21.1%); meat (20.3%); goods and services for the usual maintenance of household (19.5%); sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and sweets (18.2%); food products (16.6%); maintenance and arrangement of residence (16.1%); fuels and lubricants for personal transport means (14.4%); electricity (11.9%); home and garden tools and equipment (10.4%); hotel services (10.1%); personal care (10.0%); coffee, tea and cocoa (9.1%); furniture and furnishings, carpets and other coverings (8.4%); spare parts and accessories for personal transport means (8.4%); mineral water, soft beverages, fruit and vegetable juices (8.0%); alcoholic beverages (7.9%); other recreational, garden and pet things and equipment (7.1%); personal items (7.0%); fruits (6.6%); vegetables (6.6%); clothing (5.9%); vehicle purchase (5.5%); household appliances (4.9%); tobacco (4.0%); glassware, cutlery and kitchen tools (3.8%); and pharmaceutical products (3.1%); with a common impact of these subgroups by 11.6 percent on HICP.
The average annual inflation rate for 2022 is 11.6%.
The total harmonized index of consumer prices in the country in 2022 was higher at an average of 11.6%, compared to 2021. The increase in the consumer price index during 2022 was observed in COICOP subgroups: oils and fats (44.5%); solid fuels, firewood, pallets, etc. (34.8%); fuels and lubricants for personal transport means (32.7%); bread and cereals (25.2%); gas (25.0%); milk, cheese and eggs (22.0%); meat (17.4%); sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and sweets (17.0%); coffee, tea and cocoa (14.2%); transport services (13.6%); food products (13.2%); hotel services (11.2%); goods and services for the usual maintenance of household (11.0%); maintenance and arrangement of residence (10.6%); home and garden tools and equipment (9.7%); electricity (7.4%); personal care (7.0%); spare parts and accessories for personal transport means (6.3%); household appliances (6.2%); fish (6.2%); fuels and lubricants for personal transport means (6.1%); other recreational, garden and pet things and equipment (5.7%); purchase of vehicles (5.2%); personal items (5.2%); furniture and furnishings, carpets and other floor coverings (5.1%); tobacco (5.0%); alcoholic beverages (4.1%); pharmaceutical products (3.7%); glassware, cutlery and kitchen tools (2.7%), with a combined impact of these subgroups by 11.7 percent on HICP.
Whereas, the decrease of the harmonized index of consumer prices during 2022 was observed in the COICOP subgroup: fruits (-5.4%), with a common impact by (-0.1 percent) on HICP.
