Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices, April 2019
The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has published the "Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices" (HICP) in April 2019, with the base year 2015=100.
Monthly inflation measured by the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices was 0.1% in April 2019.
The total harmonized index of consumer prices is higher by 0.1% in April 2019 compared to March 2019. This is mainly explained by the increase in consumer prices in the COICOP subgroups: meat (0.6%); fruit (3.9%); vegetables (1.1%); coffee, tea and cocoa (1.4%), with a common impact of these subgroups by 0.2 percent in the HICP.
The increase was counteracted by the decrease in consumer prices of the COICOP subgroup: milk, cheese and eggs (-2.1%) with an impact of this subgroup by (-0.1%) in the HICP.
The annual inflation rate measured in April 2019 with April 2018 was 3.4%.
The total harmonized index of consumer prices is higher by 3.4% in April 2019 compared to April 2018. This is mainly explained by the increase in consumer prices in this period to COICOP subgroups: bread and cereal (11.6%); meat (4.7%); milk, cheese and eggs (1.6%); vegetables (36.3%); coffee, tea and cocoa (3.1%); alcoholic beverages (1.3%); tobacco (3.7%); goods and services for household maintenance (2.2%); vehicle purchase (0.7%); use of personal transport means (5.5%) - (the increase of oil and gasoline prices); hotel services (1.2%); housing services (8.0%); personal items (2.7%), with a common impact of these subgroups by 3.8 percent in the HICP.
The increase was counteracted mainly by the decrease in consumer prices in the COICOP subgroups: fruit (-7.9%); electricity, gas and other fuels (-2.6%); transport services (-5.5%) - (decrease of air transport ticket prices), with a common impact of these subgroups by (-0.4%) in the HICP.
