Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices, 2019
The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has published the annual publication of the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (CPI) in 2019.
The annual publication of the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (CPI), harmonized according to the international concept, has been implemented since January 2015 and contains time series on an annual basis for the period 2002 - 2019 recalculated with the base year 2015 = 100.
The average annual inflation rate in 2019 was 2.7%.
The total harmonized index of consumer prices in the country in 2019 was higher at an average of 2.7 percent, compared to 2018. This is mainly explained by the increase in consumer prices in COICOP subgroups: bread and cereals (11.1%), with an impact of 1.1 percent on the HICP; meat (3.8%) and vegetables (11.1%), each subgroup with an impact by 0.4 percent in the HICP; milk, cheese and eggs (2.8%), with an impact by 0.2 percent on the HICP; coffee, tea and cocoa (6.2%), alcoholic beverages (1.9%), tobacco (3.2%), goods and services for the usual maintenance of the household (2.8%), purchase of vehicles (1.4%), and use of means for personal transport (1.5%), each subgroup with an impact by 0.1 percent on the HICP; sugar and cakes (1.6%), maintenance and arrangement of the residence (2.3%), utensils and various kitchen utensils (1.4%), organized vacations (3.2%), hotel services (0.9%), accommodation services (5.7%), personal belongings (3.4%), and insurance (3.3%), with a common impact of these subgroups by 0.2 percent on the HICP.
Meanwhile, the decrease in prices has been observed in the COICOP subgroups: fruits (-4.6%); and transport services (-3.7%) - (decrease of air transport ticket prices), which each subgroup with an impact by (-0.1) percent in the HICP.
