Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices, 2018

The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has published the "Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices" (HICP) in 2018.

The annual Harmonized Index of Consumer Price Indices (HICPs), harmonized according to the international concept, has been implemented since January 2015 and contains time series on a yearly basis for the period 2002 - 2018 recalculated with the base year 2015 = 100.

The total harmonized index of consumer prices (CPI-HICP) in the country in 2018 was higher at an average of 1.1 percent, compared to 2017.

This is mainly explained by the increase in consumer prices of the use of personal means of transport (6.7%) with an impact of 0.5 percent; bread and cereal (2.7%) with an impact of 0.3 percent; meat (2.3%), vegetables (6.6%), each subgroup affected by 0.2 percent; tobacco (3.1%); transport services (4.3%) - (increase of air transport ticket prices); hotel services (2.1%), each subgroup with an impact by 0.1 percent in the HICP.

Meanwhile, the decrease in prices has been observed in electricity, gas and other fuels

(-5.4%) with an impact of (-0.2 percent); sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and sweets (-7.3%); audio-visual, photographic information processing equipment (-4.7%), which each subgroup affected (-0.1 percent) in the HICP.
