Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by expenditure and production approach, Q4 2021

The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has released data of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2021

by economic activities and expenditure approach, at current prices and prices of the previous year.

GDP in Q4 2021 marked a real increase by 6.36%, compared to the same quarter of the previous year (Q4 2020).

Economic activities that increased in this quarter were: wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, transportation and storage, accommodation and food service activities (14.82%); scientific, professional and technical activities, administrative and support services activities (5.95%); arts, entertainment and leisure, household goods production activities for own use and other services (4.78%); extractive, processing, electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply, water supply, waste treatment and management activities, rehabilitation activities (4.32%); information and communication (4.03%); agriculture, forestry and fishing (1.83%); real estate activities (1.97%); and financial and insurance activities (0.41%).

Meanwhile, economic activities that marked a real decline in this quarter were: public administration, social security, education and health (-5.75%); and construction (-5.21%).

The components of GDP by expenditures method which had an increase were: exports of goods and services (33.38%); import of goods and services (17.09%); final consumption expenditures (8.65%); and government final consumption expenditures (4.46%).

With the assessment of the fourth quarter, according to the methodology KAS gives a preliminary estimate for 2021, which based on the amount of quarters, had a real increase of 10.53%, compared to 2020.
