Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by expenditure and production approach, Q2 2022

The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has released data of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for the second quarter (Q2) of 2022, by economic activities and by expenditure approach, at current prices and prices of the previous year.

GDP in Q2 2022 marks a real increase by 2.14%, compared to the same quarter of the previous year (Q2 2021).

The economic activities that had growth in this quarter were: Wholesale and retail trade, repair of vehicles and motorcycles, Transportation and storage, Accommodation and food service activities (12.58%); Scientific, professional and technical activities, Administrative and support services activities (8.38%); Financial and insurance activities (7.48%); Information and communication (6.85%); Arts, entertainment and recreation, household goods production activities for own use and other services (5.54%); Mining and manufacturing industry, electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply, Water supply, Waste treatment and management activities and rehabilitation (4.51%); Agriculture, forestry and fishing (1.93%); Real estate activities (1.56%).

Meanwhile, the economic activities that marked a real decline in this quarter were: Construction (-17.97%); Public administration, social security, education and health (-0.64%).

The components of GDP by expenditures that had increased were: Exports of goods and services (36.02%); Import of goods and services (4.57%); and Final consumption expenditures (2.40%).

Whereas, there was a decrease in: Gross capital formation (-16.81%); final consumption expenditure of the government (-2.81%).
