Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by expenditure and production approach, 2008-2021

The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has released the revised data of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by two approaches (by economic activities and by expenditure approach), at current prices and prices of the previous year for the period 2008-2021, based on ESA 2010.

GDP at current prices in 2021 was 7 957.8 million Euros.

The real growth in 2021, compared to 2020, was 10.75%. GDP per capita for 2021 was 4 486 Euros.

Real growth in 2021 was in the following economic activities: Hotels and restaurants (34.7%); Wholesale and retail trade, repair of vehicles and motorcycles (18.8%); Transport and storage (14.3%); Manufacturing industry (10.6%); Construction (8.8%); Administrative and support activities (8.5%); Art, entertainment and recreation (8.0%); Professional, scientific and technical activities (6.7%); Education (6.6%); Financial and insurance activities (6.2%); Water supply (6.1%); Information and communication (4.3%); Mining industry (4.3%); Other services (3.6%); Real estate business (2.5%); Health and social work activities (1.1%).

Whereas, there was a decrease in these activities: Public administration and defense, compulsory social security (-0.9%); Electricity and gas supply (-2.1%); Agriculture, hunting, forestry and fishing (- 2.5%).

The real growth according to the main components of GDP by expenditure approach for 2021 was: Export of services (88.8%); Export of goods (51.6%); Import of services (44.3%); Import of goods (FOB) (28.8%); Gross capital formation (10.7%); Government final consumption expenditures (9.0%); Final consumption expenditures (7.5%).

There was a decrease in these components: Changes in inventory (-7.9%).
