This draft law regulates the manner of organization of the Census process, defines the competencies and responsibilities of the bodies that organize, assist and implement the Census, documentation, processing, storage, publication of data and administrative measures. The law also regulates the territorial extension of the Census, the deadlines, the holding and the process as a whole, the civic obligations for participation in the Census, the administrative sanctions and the jurisdiction of the responsible institutions.

It was announced at the meeting that the Kosovo Census will be conducted in 2022.

The Population Census is an important national project, implemented by the Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) with the support of central and local institutions in the country.

The Population Census will provide central and local institutions, organizations and businesses with a wide range of policy-making data in the preparation of strategic plans and research analyzes for areas such as education, health, transport, capital projects, etc. It will create a basis for collecting, analyzing and providing data on key demographic and socio-economic indicators in the country.

The Government of the Republic of Kosovo in its 50th meeting held on December 23, 2021 with Decision no. 04/50 approved the Draft Law on Population and Housing Census in Kosovo.
