Education Statistics in Kosovo, 2020/2021
The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS), in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science, Technology and Innovation (MEST), has published "Education Statistics, 2020/2021".
This publication provides statistical information on preschool, primary and lower secondary education, upper secondary education, special education, and statistical information on university education for the public and private sectors.
According to the results of this publication, the number of children in kindergartens and preschools was 31 179, of which in the public sector were 24 196 children, or 77.6%, while in the private sector were 6 983 children, or 28.9%.
The number of pupils in primary and lower secondary education was 229 664, of which in the public sector were 223 869 pupils, or 97.5%, while in the private sector were 5 796 pupils, or 2.5%.
The number of pupils in upper secondary education was 74 387, of which in the public sector were 70 742 pupils, or 95.1%, while in the private sector were 3 645 pupils, or 4.9%.
While the total number of pupils in special education was 307 pupils.
The total number of students in university education was 95 335, of which in public universities were 54 753 students, or expressed in percentage, 57.4%, while in private colleges were 40 582 students, or 42.6%.
In the academic year 2020/2021 all private colleges reported, which has influenced the number of students to be higher, compared to the previous year where only a part of private colleges had reported the data.
