Education Statistics in Kosovo, 2019/2020
The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science (MES) has published "Education Statistics in 2019/2020".
This publication provides statistical information on pre-school, primary and lower secondary education, upper secondary education, special education, and statistical information on university education for the public and private sector.
According to the results of this publication, the number of children in kindergartens and preschools was 33 604, of which 26 385 children were in the public sector, or 78.5%; while in the private sector were 7 219 children, or 21.5%.
The number of pupils in primary and lower secondary education was 237 959, of which in the public sector were 232 707, or 95.6%; while in the private sector were 5 252, or 1.6%.
The number of pupils in upper secondary education was 79 264, of which in the public sector were 75 784 pupils, or 95.6%; while, in the private sector were 3 480 pupils, or 4.4%.
Whereas, the total number of pupils in special education was 349 pupils.
The total number of students in university education was 73 604, of which in the public sector were 58 879 students in public universities, or 80.0%; while, in private colleges there were 14 725 students, or 20.0%.
