Education Statistics in Kosovo, 2017 - 2018
The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MEST) has published Education Statistics for the academic year 2017/2018.
This publication provides statistical information on pre-school education, primary and lower secondary education, upper secondary education, special education, and statistical information on university education for the public and private sector.
According to the results of this publication, it turns out that the number of children in kindergartens and preschools was 31 068, of which 27 289 children were in the public sector, or 87.9%, while in the private sector were 3 779 children, or 12.1%.
The number of pupils in primary and lower secondary education was 248 044, of which 244 149 pupils were in the public sector, or 98.4%, while in the private sector were 3 895 pupils, or 1.6%.
The number of pupils in upper secondary education was 91 345, of which in the public sector were 88 444 pupils, or 97%, while in the private sector were 2 901 pupils or 3%.
Whereas, the total number of pupils in special education was 315 pupils.
The total number of students in university education was 110 137, of which 70 313 students were in public universities, or 63.9%, while in private colleges was 39,824 students, or 36.1%.
