Divorce Statistics in Kosovo, 2017
The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has published Divorce Statistics in Kosovo for the year of 2017. The data in this publication are presented on the basis of the administrative data collection for 2017 by the Basic Courts of Kosovo, where a total of 1 072 statistical sheets for divorces were collected, SHK-1.
These data show that in 2017 in Kosovo 1 072 married couples were reported divorced.
Males divorced by ethnicity were: Albanian were 97.5%, Serbian 0.3%, Turkish 0.2%, Bosnian 0.6%, Roma, Ashkali and Egyptians 0.7%, and other 0.7%.
Females divorced by ethnicity were: Albanian 84.0%, Serbian 0.5%, Turkish 0.2%, Bosnian 0.8%, Roma, Ashkali and Egyptians 0.8%, and others 13.7%.
Divorces by the duration of marriage, dominated the first year with 13.4%, the second year with 13.2% and less than a year 9.6% of divorced couples.
Divorces by age group, females dominated with age 25-29 year old with 230 divorces or 21.5%, while males dominated by age 30-34 years old with 228 divorces or 21.3%.
By educational level, secondary education dominated for both females and males. The number of females in this category was 332 or 31.0%, while males were 390 or 36.4%.
The largest number of divorced couples were without children with 68.9%, with two children with 11.2% and with three children 9.1%.
