Divorce Statistics in Kosovo, 2016

Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has published "Divorce Statistics in Kosovo, 2016". The data in this publication are presented on the basis of administrative data collection for 2016 by Basic Courts of Kosovo, where a total of 1110 statistical sheets for divorces have been collected, SHK-1.

These data show that in Kosovo in 2016, 1 110 couples have been divorced. Out of these, males of Albanian ethnicity were 96.3%; Serbian 0.4%; Turkish 0.3%; Bosnian 0.9%; Roma, Ashkali and Egyptians 1.1% and others by 1.1%. While females divorced by ethnicity were: Albanian 83.7%; Serbian 0.5%; Turkish 0.3%; Bosnian 0.8%; Roma, Ashkali and Egyptians 0.8%, and others 14.0%.

According to the duration of marriage, the first year was dominated by 15.2%, the second year with 12.6% and less than one year by 8.7% of divorced couples.

Divorces by age group, for females dominated the age 25-29 years old with 230 divorces, or 20.7%. Meanwhile, for males dominated the age 30-34 years old with 233 or 21.0%.

According to educational level, dominate females and males with secondary education. The number of females in this category is 402, or 36.2%, while male 484, or 43.6%.

Meanwhile, the largest number of divorced spouses are without children with 65.8%, then come with two children with 12.5% and a child with 11.0%.
