Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS), respectively the Department of Social Statistics (DSS), has released annual data for Births in 2021. These data are published based on the administrative sources.

The source of data is the Kosovo Civil Registration Agency, i.e. the Civil Status Offices.

According to the legal provisions on managing of basic registers books for Births, cases are mandatory to be registered in the above-mentioned registers, in the place where the event took place, regardless of the fact that the persons related to the event have permanent residence in that place or anywhere else.

The data published in this report represent all cases of births that occurred during 2021.

In 2021, 30106 births occurred and were registered (inside and outside Kosovo). Of these registered births, 22830 occurred only in Kosovo, of which 11850 or 51.9% of births are male and 10980 or 48.1% of births are female.

KAS will continue to collect data through special statistical questionnaires, for Births DEM-1, during this calendar year, as before. Data collection continues on a monthly basis and will serve to create the database as well as compare it with administrative data.

On the occasion of using this information published in these reports, the Department of Social Statistics of KAS, will accept suggestions, proposals which will help to enrich the contents of these reports in the future.
