These data are published based on administrative data.

According to the legal provisions on managing of basic registers books for Births, Deaths, Marriages and Divorces, cases are mandatory to be registered in the above-mentioned registers, in the place where the event took place, regardless of the fact that the persons related to the event have permanent residence in that place or anywhere else.

In the month of January 2022, a total of 2 107 births were registered (inside and outside Kosovo). Of these births recorded in December, 1 034 of birth cases were male and 1 073 were female.

Whereas, a total of 997 deaths were registered (inside and outside Kosovo). Of the registered deaths, 516 cases are male and 481 cases are female.

In the month of January 2022, a total of 1 827 marriages were registered (inside and outside Kosovo). A total of 119cases of divorced couples have been registered in this month.

KAS will continue to collect data through special statistical questionnaires: for Births DEM-1, Deaths DEM-2, Marriages DEM-3, and Divorces SHK-1, during this calendar year, as before. Data collection continues on a monthly basis and will serve to create the database as well as compare it with administrative data.
