Transport Statistics, Q2 2018

The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has published "Transport and Telecommunication Statistics for Q2 2018" with data on Air, Rail, Road Transport and Telecommunication.

In the territory of Kosovo there are a total of 333 km of railway tracks for transport. A total of 9 locomotives circulating in Kosovo's railways, of which seven are diesel engines and two motor trains. The locomotives carry ten wagons per passenger and 1 420 wagons for freight.

In the second quarter of 2018, the number of passengers using the train as a means of travel was 37 thousand, compared with the same quarter last year (Q2 2017) the number of passengers decreased by 34.90%.

Freight transport by train in the second quarter of 2018 was 96 thousand tons, compared with the same period of the previous year (Q2 2017) there is a decrease by 27.27%.

In terms of number of flights in the second quarter of 2018 there were 1 957 flights or 10.75% more than in the same quarter last year (Q2 2017).

The number of passengers who used the airplane as a means of transport during this quarter was about 524 thousand, compared to the same quarter last year (Q2 2017) this number marks an increase by 12.67%.

Based on request of Eurostat, starting from this quarter (Q2 2018), this publication has undergone some changes in the part of telecommunications, by including data from other operators, in order to cover all telecommunications services provided in our country.
