Transport Statistics, Q1 2018
The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has published "Transport and Telecommunication Statistics" for the quarterly period of Q1 2018, with data on Air, Rail, and Road Transport and Telecommunication.
In the territory of Kosovo we have a total of 333 km of railway track for transport. There are 9 locomotives circulating in Kosovo's railways, of which seven are diesel and two motor trains. The locomotives carry ten wagons for passengers and 1 420 wagons for freight.
In the first quarter of 2018 (Q1 2018), the number of passengers using the train as a travel means was 17 000, compared with the previous quarter, the number of passengers decreased by 65%.
The freight transport by train in the Q1 2018 was 76 thousand tons, compared with the same period of last year, increased by 36%.
In terms of the number of flights, in Q1 2018 there were 1 560 flights, or 13.70% more than in the same quarter last year (Q1 2017).
The number of passengers who used the aircraft as a means of transport during this quarter was about 418 thousand, with an increase of 16.92% compared to the same quarter last year (Q1 2017).
Based on the request from Eurostat, starting from the second quarter of this year (Q2 2018), the publication will undergo some changes, including data from other telecommunications operators, in order to cover all telecommunications services provided in our country.
