Transport and Telecommunication Statistics, Q4 2018

The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has published "Transport and Telecommunication Statistics" in Q4 2018, with data on air, rail, road transport, and telecommunication.

In the territory of Kosovo there are a total of 333 km of railway tracks for transport. In the fourth quarter of 2018, the number of passengers who used the train as a travel means was 33 000. Compared to the same quarter last year (Q4 2017), the number of passengers has increased by 31.68%.

Freight transport by train in the fourth quarter (Q4 2018) was 213 thousand tons, compared with the same period last year (Q4 2017), there is an increase by 11.19%.

Regarding the number of flights in the fourth quarter of 2018, there were 1 862 flights or 13.12% more than in the same quarter last year (Q4 2017). The number of passengers using the airplane as a means of transport during this quarter was about 500 000, compared with the same quarter last year (Q4 2017), there is an increase by 19.63%.

In 2018, there are 343 631 motor and non-motor vehicles registered in Kosovo, compared to 2017, with an increase by 2.75%.

According to the data presented, in 2018 there are 2 074.7 km of roads in the territory of Kosovo, where in the category of motorways are 6%, national roads 31%, and 63% are regional roads.

Based on Eurostat's request, starting from the second quarter of 2018 (Q2 2018), the publication has undergone some changes in the telecommunications sector by including data from other operators.
