Results of the Enterprise Structural Survey (ESS), 2016

Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has published the results of the Enterprise Structural Survey for 2016. This publication, with the data it offers, aims to present some of the economic indicators according to the structure of economic activity.

According to the results of this publication, according to economic sectors, the largest number of enterprises belongs to: trade with 16 557 enterprises or 47.7%; business services and other services with 4 708 enterprises or 13.6%; processing industry (manufacture) 4 674 enterprises or 13.5%; accommodation and food service activities with 3 621 enterprises or 10.4%; construction with 2 628 enterprises or 7.6%; transport and storage 1 291 enterprises or 3.7%; information and communication with 849 enterprises or 2.4%; mining industry and water supply, sewage, waste management and land revitalization activities with 162 enterprises or 0.5%; as well as supply of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning with 44 enterprises or 0.1%.

As regards employment for the economic sectors that were part of the research, the total number of employees totals 156 504, out of which: trade sector accounts for 54 609 employees or 34.9%; processing industry (manufacture) 24 457 employees or 15.6%; business services 18 398 employees or 11.8%; construction with 16 687 employees or 10.7%; accommodation and food service activities with 11 895 employees or 7.6%; information and communication 8 714 employees or 5.6%; supply of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning 7 770 employees or 5.0%; as well as other sectors have less than 5% employees.

Another characteristic worth mentioning is the turnover realized by the dominant enterprises: trade with a share of 57.5%; processing industry (manufacture) 11.9%; construction with 10.5%; while other sectors of economic activity result in a smaller percentage of turnover.

Meanwhile, with regard to the average monthly wage indicator, it brings around 359 Euros to the activities included in the survey.
