Producer Price Index, Q3 2018

The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has published the Producer Price Index (PPI) in the third quarter (Q3) 2018.

The total index of producer prices in Kosovo in Q3 2018 is higher by 1.0% compared to Q2 2018. The largest increase by branches of economic activity is observed in: production of non-metallic mineral products (6.9%); beverage production (4.2%); manufacture of machinery and equipment (4.1%); manufacture of furniture (2.8%); manufacture of wood and of products of wood and cork, except furniture: manufacture of articles of straw and plaiting materials (1.7%); electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (1.6%); manufacture of food products (1.3%); manufacture of paper and its products (1.2%); manufacture of leather and its products (0.9%); and manufacture of rubber and plastics (0.2%).

The increase was counteracted by the decrease in prices of: metal mining (-13.3%); manufacture of electrical equipment (-3.4%); fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment (-2.8%); chemical products (-2.7%); manufacture of metal (-1.6%); and other mining and quarries (-0.1%).

Meanwhile, compared Q3 2018 with Q3 2017, producer prices increased by an average of 2.3%. The largest increase by branches of economic activity is observed in: manufacture of  metal (14.6%); manufacture of machinery and equipment (7.3%); manufacture of electrical equipment (6.0%); non-metallic mineral products (5.5%); manufacture of motor vehicles (transport), trailers and semi trailers (3.3%); manufacture of wood and of products of cork, except furniture: manufacture of articles of straw and plaiting materials (2,9%); electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (2.5%); manufacture of furniture (2.2%); manufacture of paper (1.4%); manufacture of food products (1.3%); manufacture of beverages (1.3%); water collection, treatment and supply (0.8%); and rubber and plastics products (0.3%).

The increase was counteracted by the decrease in prices of: metal mining (-11.1%); chemical products (-3.1%); manufacture of leather and its products (-1.9%); fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment (-1.8%); and other mining and quarries (-0.1%).
