Producer Price Index (PPI), Q4 2017

The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has published the Producer Price Index for the fourth quarter of 2017 (Q4 2017).

The total index of producer prices in Kosovo is higher by 1.0% compared to Q3 2017. The largest increase by economic activity branches is observed in: manufacture of electrical equipment (10.0%); manufacture of metals (7.3%); metal mining (5.5%); manufacture of wood and of products of wood and cork (except furniture), manufacture of articles of straw and plaiting materials (3.0%); supply of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning (2.9%); production of food products (0.6%); manufacture of leather and articles thereof (0.5%); and manufacture of paper and articles thereof (0.1%).

The rise was counteracted by the fall in prices to: manufacture of beverages (-2.3%); manufacture of furniture (-1.6%); manufacture of non-metallic mineral products (-1.0%); rubber and plastic (-0.9%); manufacture of chemical products (-0.6%); fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment (-0.2%); and manufacture of machinery and equipment (-0.1%).

Meanwhile, compared the Q4 2017 with Q4 2016, producer prices rose to an average of 1.6%. The largest increase by branches of economic activity is observed in: manufacture of electrical equipment (18.1%); metal mining (8.2%); manufacture of wood and of products of wood and cork (except furniture), manufacture of articles of straw and plaiting materials (5.6%); manufacture of metals (4.9%); supply of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning (4.0%); manufacture of leather and articles thereof (2.7%); food products (1.1%); manufacture of chemical products (1.0%); collection, treatment and supply of water (0.2%); and non-metallic mineral products (0.2%).

The rise was counteracted by the fall in prices of: beverage production (-3.7%); manufacture of motor vehicles (transport), trailer and semi-trailers (-2.5%); manufacture of rubber and plastics (-1.2%); fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment (-1.2%); manufacture of furniture (-0.8%); manufacture of machinery and equipment (-0.1%); and manufacture of paper and articles thereof (-0.1%).
