Import Price Index (IMPI), Q4 2017

Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has published the Import Price Index (IMPI) for the fourth quarter of 2017 (Q4 2017).

Kosovo's total Import Price Index rose by 0.6% in Q4 2017, compared to Q3 2017. The biggest rise in prices by sectors were to: mineral products (5.3%); nutritional oils (2.3%); base metals and articles thereof (1.6%); live animals and their products (0.5%); various manufactured articles (0.5%); machinery and electrical equipment (0.3%); chemical industry products (0.1%); means of transport (0.1%); and wood and articles thereof (0.1%).

The rise was neutralized mainly by price decreases by sectors of: paper and articles thereof (-7.4%); prepared foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco (-1.0%); footwear (-0.4%); articles of stone, mortar, ceramic and glass products (-0.3%); vegetable products (-0.2%); textiles and articles thereof (-0.2%); and leather and articles thereof (-0.2%).

Meanwhile, compared the Q4 2017 with Q4 2016, import prices in Kosovo rose to an average of 2.5%. The largest increase by sector were: plant products (16.1%); base metals and articles thereof (11.7%); mineral products (6.4%); textiles and articles thereof (5.2%); live animals and their products (2.7%); plastics, rubbers and articles thereof (2.1%); wood and articles thereof (0.9%); articles of stone, mortar, ceramic and glass products (0.8%); and means of transport (0.2%).

 The rise was neutralized mainly by price decreases by sectors to: paper and articles thereof (-10.8%); leather and articles thereof (-5.3%); various manufactured items (-2.6%); machinery and electrical equipment (-2.5%); footwear (-2.4%); prepared foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco (-1.0%); and chemical industry products (-0.7%).
