Import Price Index (IMPI), Q2 2018

The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has published the Import Price Index (IMPI) for the second quarter of 2018 (Q2 2018).

The total import price index in Kosovo rose by 0.9% in Q2 2018, compared to Q1 2018. The largest increase in prices by sectors was: mineral products (6.8%); wood and articles of wood (4.2%); leather and articles thereof (3.1%); means of transport (1.5%); plastics, rubber and articles thereof (1.3%); articles of stone, mortar, ceramic and glass products (1.0%); chemical industry products (0.7%); optical, photographic, measuring, musical and musical instruments, as well as clock mechanisms (0.6%); machinery and electrical equipment (0.4%); and prepared foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco (0.2%).

The rise was largely neutralized by price decreases in prices by sectors: textile and textile articles (-2.9%); vegetable products (-2.8%); base metals and articles thereof (-2.5%); various manufactured articles (-2.5%); footwear (-0.9%); nutritional oils (-0.7%); live animals and animal products (-0.3%); and papers and articles thereof (-0.2%).

Meanwhile, compared to Q2 2018 with Q2 2017, import prices rose to an average of 2.4%. The largest increase by sector were: mineral products (15.8%); base metals and articles thereof (6.2%); plastics, rubbers and articles thereof (4.5%); wood and articles of wood (3.7%); means of transport (1.2%); and textiles and articles thereof (0.9%).

The rise was neutralized mainly by the decline in prices by sectors of: footwear (-12.2%); leather and articles thereof (-7.4%); paper and articles thereof (-6.6%); various manufactured articles (-4.5%); optical, photographic, measuring, musical and musical instruments as well as clock mechanisms (-3.7%); live animals and animal products (-1.8%); vegetable products (-1.7%); machinery and electrical equipment (-1.6%); prepared foodstuff, beverages and tobacco (-1.2%); and nutritional oils (-0.9%).
