Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices, July 2016

Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has published "the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices" (HICP) for July 2016.

The harmonized index of consumer prices since the month of January 2016 is published with base year 2015 = 100.

In July 2016, the overall Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices in the country is unchanged (0.0%) compared with June 2016. Despite the non-change of the overall harmonized index of consumer prices, there are some changes in prices of items and services to COICOP groups and subgroups. Higher prices are observed in subgroups: fruit (3.4%), transport services (10.2%) - (rising price of plane tickets) with a common impact of these subgroups of 0.3% in the HICP.

The increase was counteracted mainly by decreases in the subgroup of vegetables (-8.5%) with an impact of (-0.3%) in the HICP.

The inflation rate in the month of July 2016 with the month of July 2015 was 0.0%.

The month of July 2016 compared with July 2015, the overall Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices was not changed. However, despite this, in this period there are some changes in prices of items and services COICOP to groups and subgroups. Higher prices are observed in subgroups: meat (1.2%), sugar and confectionery (9.1%), mineral water, soft drinks, juices from fruits and vegetables (2.2%), alcoholic beverages (5.0%), tobacco (10.1%), clothing (3.0%), furniture and equipment, carpets and other floor carpets (2.6%), medical products and equipment (3.2%), purchase of vehicles (1.4%), transport services (10.9%) - (rising price of plane tickets) with a common impact of these subgroups of 1.7% in the HICP.

The increase was counteracted mainly by decreases in this period of subgroups: bread and cereals (-4.5%); fruits (-7.8%); vegetables (-8.1%); water supply and various services related to residence (-6.7%); electricity, gas and other fuels (-4.9%) - (escalation of VAT by 8.0% from September 2015 to bread and cereals, water and electricity has contributed to the decline in HICP in a move of ( -0.8%) in this period); the use of personal transport means (-7.1%) - (drop in oil and petrol prices) with a common impact of these subgroups of (-1.7%) in the HICP.
