Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP), September 2016

Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has published "the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices" (HICP) for September 2016.

Since January 2016, the harmonized index of consumer prices is published with the base year 2015 = 100.

Overall harmonized index of consumer prices is higher for 0.2% in September 2016 compared with August 2016. Increase of prices is noted to COICOP subgroups: milk, cheese and eggs (1.2%); vegetables (5.5%); electricity, gas and other fuels (1.0%) - (rising price of wood for heating) with a common impact of these subgroups of 0.4% in the HICP.

The increase was counteracted mainly by decreases of COICOP subgroups: fruits (-4.1%) and transport services (-3.5%) - (decline of the price of plane tickets), with a common impact of these subgroups of (-0.2%) in the HICP.

The inflation rate measured in the month of September 2016 with September 2015 was 0.6%. 

Overall harmonized index of consumer prices is higher for 0.6% in September 2016 compared with September 2015. In this period there are some changes in prices of items and services to COICOP groups and subgroups. Higher prices are noted to subgroups: meat (1.0%); milk, cheese and eggs (2.6%); sugar and sweets (8.1%); alcoholic beverages (2.7%); tobacco (5.1%); clothing (2.8%); transport services (11.8%) - (raising the price of plane tickets), with a common impact of these subgroups of 1.1% in the HICP.

The increase was counteracted mainly by decreases in this period of COICOP subgroups: bread and cereals (-2.8%); fruits (-7.7%); vegetables (-3.3%); the use of personal transport means (-1.8%) - (drop in in oil and petrol prices) with a common impact of these subgroups of (-0.5%) in the HICP.
