Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP), March 2017
Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has published "The Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices" (HICP) for March 2017.
Since January 2016, the harmonized index of consumer prices is published with base year 2015 = 100
The overall harmonized index of consumer prices in the country declined by an average (-0.1%) in the month of March 2017 compared to February 2017. This is mainly explained by the decline in consumer prices of subgroup of milk, cheese and eggs (-3.1%), with an impact of (-0.2%) in the HICP.
The decrease was counteracted by increases in consumer prices to subgroup of fruits to 4.8% with an impact of 0.1% in the HICP.
The inflation rate measured in the month of March 2017 with March 2016 was 1.5%.
The overall harmonized index of consumer prices is higher by 1.5% in March 2017 compared with March 2016. In this period there are some changes in the prices of items and services of COICOP groups and subgroups. Rise in consumer prices was observed in subgroups: meat (1.0%); milk, cheese and eggs (4.3%); sugar and sweets (8.3%); coffee, tea and cocoa (6.2%); tobacco (5.4%); electricity, gas and other fuels (4.1%) - (raising the price of heating wood); use of personal transport means (11.3%) - (raising the price of oil and petrol) with a common impact of these subgroups of 1.8% in the HICP.
The increase was counteracted mainly by decreases in this period of subgroups: vegetables (-3.2%); purchase of vehicles (-1.1%), audio-visual equipment, photographic and information processing equipment (-4.2%), with a common impact of these subgroups (-0.3%) in the HICP.
