Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP), June 2016
Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has published "the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices" (HICP) for June 2016.
The harmonized index of consumer prices since January 2016 is published with base year
2015 = 100.
In June 2016, the overall harmonized index of consumer prices in the country declined by an average (-0.1%) compared with May 2016. This is mainly explained by the fall in consumer prices for the subgroup of vegetables (-10.8%), with an impact of (-0.4%) in the HICP.
Whereas, increase in consumer prices has been observed in subgroups: fruit (6.2%), use of personal transport means (2.6%) - (raising the price of oil and petrol with a common impact of these subgroups of 0.3% in HICP.
The inflation rate measured in June 2016 with June 2015, was (-0.3%).
In the month of June 2016, compared with June 2015, the overall harmonized index of consumer prices decreased on average (-0.3%). This is mainly explained by the fall in consumer prices in this period of subgroups: bread and cereals (-4.3%); fruit (-7.9%); vegetables (-9.5%); water supply and various services related to residence (-6.7%); electricity, gas and other fuels (-5.3%) - (escalation of VAT by 8.0% from September 2015 to bread and cereals, water and electricity has affected the HICP falling at the rate of (- 0.8%), use of personal transport means (-7.2%) - (decline in the price of oil and petrol), with a common impact of these subgroups of (-1.7%) in the HICP.
However, during this period it was observed increase in consumer prices in subgroups: meat (1.1%); sugar and sweets (9.0%); mineral water, soft drinks, fruit and vegetable juices (2.0%); alcoholic beverages (5.8%); tobacco (10.7%); clothing (2.9%); furnishings and equipment, carpets and other floor carpets (2.2%); products and medical equipment (3.2%); transport services (4.4%) - (raising the price of plane tickets), with a common impact of these subgroups of (1.4%) in the HICP.
