Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP), July 2017
Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has published the "Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices" (HICP) for July 2017.
The harmonized index of consumer prices from January 2016 is published with the base year 2015 = 100.
The total harmonized index of consumer prices in the country dropped to an average of (-0.2%) in July 2017 compared to June 2017. This is mainly explained by the fall in consumer prices in COICOP sub-groups: Milk, cheese and eggs (-1.4%); Fruits (-4.1%); Vegetables (-7.8%); with a common impact of these subgroups of (-0.4%) in the HICP.
The decline was counteracted by rising consumer prices in the sub-group of transport services (8.0%) - (ticket price increase) with an impact of 0.2% in the HICP.
The inflation rate measured in July 2017 with July 2016 was 1.7%.
The total harmonized index of consumer prices is higher by 1.7% in July 2017 compared to July 2016. This is mainly explained by some price changes of items and services to the COICOP groups and subgroups. Growth of consumer prices is observed in subgroups: Meat (1.0%); Fruits (4.3%); Sugar and cakes (5.5%); Coffee, tea and cocoa (10.6%); Mineral water, soft drinks, juices from fruits and vegetables (1.1%); Tobacco (5.6%); Electricity, gas and other fuels (16.6%) - (increase of electricity price in July 2017 by 25.9% compared to summer tariffs of July 2016), use of personal transport means (3.2%) - (increase in oil and petrol prices) with a common impact of these subgroups of 2.0% in the HICP.
The rise was mainly neutralized by the fall in prices in this period to the subgroups: Vehicle purchase (-1.6%); Telephone and fax equipment (-7.9%); Audio-visual and photographic equipment for information processing (-6.9%), with a common impact of these sub-groups (-0.3%) in the HICP.
