      1. Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS), Department of Economic Statistics and National Accounts, has started to publish the Import Price Index (IPI) in June 2009. Import prices started to be collected in the beginning of 2006. Prices are collected quarterly and cover most representative import companies which were active in most municipalities for the period first quarter of 2006 - the fourth quarter of 2014. The main objective of the IPI is primarily the provision of data: prices, indexes, weights, sectors and quarterly and annual changes of indexes.
      1. Import price index uses the Harmonized System of the World Customs Organization (WCO) published in 2 digit sectors.
      1. Statistics cover all economic sectors. Tables present employment and non employment by economic activity and occupation.
      1. Import Price Index is calculated by the Harmonized System of the World Customs Organization. The import price index is a statistical indicator which measures quarterly changes in import prices. The main variables are: 1. Aggregated prices of imported items expressed in currencies and published in indices, 2. Articles imported and distributed in the sectors and 3. Weights distributed across sectors.

      1. The target population consists of all representative enterprises importing (who have greater import) within the chapters and sections. The choice of enterprises was dune under the circulation by the Kosovo Customs entries.

      1. KAS is committed to quality assurance in the production of official statistics. Based on the "Law On Official Statistics, Law 04 / L-036", KAS uses statistical methods and processes in accordance with internationally accepted scientific principles and standards and conducts ongoing analyzes in order to improve the quality and delivery of updated statistics. In carrying out its duties, KAS follows the overall quality management principles, in line with the European Statistics Code of Practice. KAS has developed a Quality Statement which is available on the KAS website: http://ask.rks-gov.net/media/1890/statement-of-quality.pdf . The document lists eleven principles, much in line with the CoP principles like professional independence and statistical confidentiality, on which the work of KAS is based.

      1. During July 2017, in Kosovo Agency of Statistics was conducted the process of assessment of the Kosovo Statistical System through the “Peer Review” approach.
      1. The data of import price index are used by the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Trade and Industry, Central Bank of Kosovo, Kosovo Agency of Statistics, Eurostat and various enterprises for imports.
      1. One of the key elements to ensure the quality of statistical data is the measurement of the satisfaction of users. The survey aims to gather comprehensive information on the needs and requirements of users of official statistical data. Through this survey the users of statistical data have expressed their thoughts and opinions regarding statistical views, they have provided advice and suggestions regarding their needs for statistics and how to improve these statistical data in the future. This survey was conducted during the conference held with the users of statistical data, in which 11 users responded.       1. The import price index is the quarter (reference period April 1 – June 30, 2017) and publication of data is done according to the plan set by the management.

      1. Way of obtaining the records is through questionnaires on paper and electronically via electronic mail. Register of enterprises is made from data taken from customs and most representative enterprises are taken in the framework of chapters and sections. As a criterion for the selection is taken the enterprise’s annual turnover in import deals. We have currently 120 units reporting (importing enterprises) and over 500 items. Each year, the number of reporting units and the number of items is increasing.

      1. Data collection is done mostly through questionnaires on paper send by the employees of departments in enterprises importing and in special cases electronically from the center.
      1. The material collected by the Regional Directorates proceeds through a logical control before entry by making comparison with the previous quarter. Where there is doubt we kame contact by telephone or by electronic mail to the person or enterprise reporting in the regional directorates in order to verify or improve the reporting of the item price.
